Travel is on the rise and there are more and more apps out there to help you experience the world. Here are some of my favorite travel apps. I haven't used all of them, but they are all currently on my phone just waiting for the right moment.
GTFO - Get the Flight Out
This is one of my favorite apps that I haven't used yet. This is for the last minute traveler who just wants to get away. The app only shows you flights that are leaving from your airport of choice within the next 24 hours. At the time of this writing, I opened the app and came across flights going to Atlanta ($245), Guadalajara ($263), and Chicago ($267). GTFO prices are all round trip and typically show several options from 3-day to 14-day trips and will show the various price options as well. Perfect app to find a quick getaway.
Fareness is a great app for planning a trip. The app allows you set time frames and the number of days, and will show you deals based on those criteria. You can search by the best deals, beach trips, Europe, or specific cities. I just opened the app and search for a 4-day trip sometime between now and June. Some of the deals that popped up were round trip flights to Napoli ($822), New Orleans ($160), Beijing ($445), and Nashville ($132).
Airbnb has changed the way we travel, connecting travelers to locals who rent out their homes. You can rent a room in a house, or an entire apartment or house. Airbnb gives you the flexibility to go off the beaten path. You can stay in a local neighborhood away from tourist attractions for much less than a hotel in some cases.
I know - not really a travel app. I have been using this app for years, even before Google purchased it. This app is essential for travel abroad to non-English speaking countries. The camera translates text live. If you're walking past a market and not sure what the signs say, open the app and use your camera for an instant translation. Download languages to use app offline.
These are a few apps that I love. What do you recommend?
